Rick’s Coffee –
Ah, real coffee aroma any time of the day. With freshly ground beans the most perfect of coffee is ready to savour. I bought two of these wonderful machines. One in my French home, and the other in my English residence. That was over some twenty years ago: both machines are still working to perfection.

I have had my machine for about 5 years. It gives me constantly great coffee but be warned, you need to get used to using this machine. It initially took me about 2 weeks to get a good cup of coffee. Once you know this machine you will be in love with it! The hissing while heating up and cooling down are part of its charm. This machine has 2 drawbacks, one is that when you have friends around and they all want coffee, you will have to refill and reheat and that takes time. The other issue is that the plastic cover over the glass water level tube gets burned at the top and bottom over time so get spares to swap out when this happens and definitely get a single hole steam wand end ( or get a correctly fitting stainless steel dome nut like I did and drill a 1.2mm hole in the end – do not use any bigger hole, the boiler will run out of steam)

I ordered this machine about two weeks ago, following which I had no communication from CoffeeItalia. I have to say I did start to get worried as there are a few not too good reviews on their service. I wanted to know the progress of my order and tried in vain to phone them. 5 days after I placed the order, I heard from Fedex saying that my parcel would be with me on the 27th of May. Neither Fedex or CoffeeItalia gave me tracking details for my machine. I need not have worried at all, the system worked perfectly and I unwrapped my machine on time. The machine itself is beautifully made and fairly heavy. The box contains everything you need to make espresso and cappuccino, though I have subsequently ordered a single hole steam nozzle as they froth milk a lot better than the three hole one supplied. It does take a bit of getting used to particularly if like me you have experienced the electronic marvels. It took me two days and about ten cups of coffee to get a good crema and the effort was really well worth it. Choice of coffee is very important and may take time. The best coffee I’ve tasted outside Italy. The base of the machine can slide about on laminate or marble worktops, we have put a non slip mat under ours to solve it. That is my only criticism of this espresso maker! If coffee Italia would communicate a little better and answer the phone then I would say the purchase would be flawless. (Covid 19 may have played a part in this) Overall though I am very satisfied.

Fantastic machine, just takes 3/4 months to get the best out of it, that is why it is called hissing side, now a very good friend!

I bought my Europiccola from Caffe italia 4 years ago. It still looks like it did as it came out of the box, brand new. It is used every day. It is my morning wake up call. It can look complicated, however it is a dream to use.
